UAE businessmen pledge financial support to flood-stricken Kerala

In view of the grim humanitarian crisis that has unraveled in Kerala in the backdrop of the floods that have devastated the South Indian state, businessmen in the UAE have pledged generous amounts towards flood relief and rescue operations.

Á prominent businessman based in the UAE has donated a sum of Dh 2.6, a fraction of which will be directly remitted to the Kerala Chief Minister’s relief fund. The rest of the amount is expected to contribute to medical relief aid.

Yusuff Ali MA, the Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group has come forward to announce a donation of INR 50 m while Chairman of Unimoni and UAE exchange, Dr. B R Shetty, has contributed INR 20 m. The group has also got in touch with the State’s health secretary in order to lend support and staff for dealing with the diseases that are likely to be ancillary effects of the stagnant flood water.
