The UAE passport has done it again. The passport now officially holds the eighth position in the Passport Index ranking. The surge in ranking of the country’s passport follows the two visa-waiver agreements that were signed at the venue of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly meet being held in New York this week.
The most recent visa waivers have been signed with Serbia and Paraguay, thus steadily taking the UAE passport to the top of the index. The passport is soon expected to linger among the top five most powerful passports in the world. However, it already is the strongest in the region.
These steady improvements are in line with the government’s goal of propelling the passport to the top five by the year 2021. The last few years have seen the passport gain steadily in the visa-free sector and have registered one of the fastest growth rates. It is only a matter of time before the UAE passport reaches the zenith of its power.
