Yes, it has happened again. And how! The UAE passport has achieved yet another milestone by managing to break through into the league of passports that linger among the top three spots. On Thursday, the country’s passport made this significant jump, amidst much cheer among travel loving Emiratis. Now, UAE passport holders can enter 113 countries without a visa whereas 50 countries will give them a convenient visa on arrival.
The passport ad climbed to the fourth position only last month. With the latest developments the country’s passport now has a visa free score of 163. The passport now shares the spot with Belgium, Austria, Japan, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada.
The Global Passport Index is led by Singapore and Germany, with the US, France, Denmark and 11 other countries at the second spot. At this rate, the UAE passport could well be on its way to the top spot in the near future. Armand Arton, President of Arton Capital, the company behind the concept of the Passport Index, said that the UAE passport’s rapid rise is a testimony to the fact that positive diplomacy has the power to translate visions into reality.
