Sharjah: The 12th Asiavison Awards night will be held today at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The city is full of life and the Indian community, in particular, are much thrilled in anticipation of the mega event and its star-studded line-up.
Deepika Padukone, a Bollywood superstar and one of the leading faces of India in the Hollywood will attend the show as confirmed by Mr. Nissar Syed, the Managing Director of Asiavision earlier. Deepika is set to receive the Global Icon of India trophy at the gala. In a show of the talents of Malayalam cinema, famed Malayalam actress Asha Sarath and her team of dancers will pay a tribute to the actress.
The AMAs are held every year in the UAE to honor top talents from South India, but also invite huge Bollywood stars every year. In the past, celebrities such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have been honored.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actors Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh were also scheduled to attend the event, but it remains to be confirmed after the postponement of the release of their latest movie, ‘Padmavati’.
Meanwhile, it’s going to be a big night for Malayalam actors Dulquer Salmaan and Manju Warrier, who will go home with the best actor trophies.
Salmaan has won the honor for his top act in series of films including Jomonte Visheshangal, Solo, CIA and Parava, while Warrier impressed in the social satire Udhaharanam Sujatha.
South Indian actors including Prakash Raj, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rana Dagubatti, Vijay Sethupathi are also confirmed to attend the star-studded night.
The gates to the awards night open at 3 pm and the awards show is expected to begin at 5.45pm.
