An enterprising student from UAE has done the country proud as he won the bronze medal, the first for the UAE, at the International Physics Olympiad 2018. The student who studies in a British school in Abu Dhabi was of the opinion that Science truly transcends borders.
The UAE was represented by a team of five students who travelled to Lisbon in Portugal this week to compete with 400 students from 87 other countries.
The student, 18-year old Edward Garemo, is a student at Brighton College Abu Dhabi and has a keen aptitude for physics. He won the medal after his insightful answers on gravitational waves, dissipative radiation, fragments produced in particle accelerators, electrical components and viscoelasticity.
The competition which involves a theoretical part and a practical exam is held for secondary school students and is open to students from all over the world. The questions asked could be gauged to be akin to graduate level physics.
