The UAE has always been at the forefront when it comes to launching humanitarian initiatives and spearheading measures that would help in reducing the misery of the underprivileged. This was further endorsed by the philanthropist Bill Gates who has acknowledged the role of the UAE and further praised the country’s initiatives in eliminating deadly diseases and reducing world poverty.
Gates addressed the issue while speaking at the launch of the 2018 Goalkeepers Report, which is produced by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The initiative gauges the progress made towards sustainable development by 2030 according to the tenets of the United Nations three years ago.

Bill Gates said that his foundation owed a lot to the generosity extended by the UAE, its leaders, the government and the various organisations operating out of the country. He also stressed on the significance of UAE’s support attributing it to the country’s strong regional role which meant that it was better equipped to rope in support from other nations. He also talked about the role of the UAE in eliminating instances of polio in remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
