The much awaited World Government Summit has finally commenced in the thriving city of Dubai today. The event which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will see proactive participation by world leaders from across the world.
The first day of the summit will witness a lot of events. The Summit will start with a talk delivered by Prof Klaus Scwab , Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum and Mohammad Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of the Cabinet Affairs and the Future, UAE.
Other sessions will witness the discussion of topics that include ‘Post-Conflict Governance’, ‘The Future of Global Trade’, ‘Happiness and Well-being’, ‘The Interplay of Politics and Society’ and ‘The Future of Learning’. The guest country for Sunday is Estonia, also known as e-Estonia for its formidable digital movement. The sessions will focus on how the small European country has set unprecedented standards in digitalisation and how its practices are a trigger for economic growth.
Today, the highly anticipated Best Minister Award will also be given out. Meanwhile, in the evening, the Pope will address the WGS from the Vatican via virtual conference. After this, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation will speak on the topic ‘Pope Francis in the Emirates: A New Dawn for the Middle East’.
