An awareness lecture was conducted by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) for the benefit of workers at Saadiyat Island’s labour village. The lecture was initiated to promote awareness among workers and inform them about their legal rights and how they could safeguard themselves from possible mistreatment in the workplace. They were also informed about the worker-friendly laws in the UAE and how it is meant to protect them.
The awareness lecture is also in line with the initiatives of the Year of Zayed and is expected to benefit more than 100,000 workers. The awareness programme was carried out in multiple languages including English, Arabic and Urdu. The talk also emphasized on the labour law of the UAE, which throws clarity on the specific rights of workers and also dictates the kind of association with employers.
The lectures have been held at several workers’ accommodations since the start of the year and seek to spread a legal culture among workers. The initiative also comes under the directives of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Chairman of the ADJD.
